Antuan Goodwin/Roadshow It certainly wouldn’t be Monterey Car Week without a flood of new concept cars and supercars. Lamborghini didn’t disappoint and revealed not one but two models on Friday. First up is the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ 63 Roadster. Naturally, it follows the SVJ 63 Coupe revealed previously and it’s also limited to, as the name implies, 63 units globally. The production figure corresponds with the Italian firm’s founding year of 1963. Any 1 percenters looking to add a new supercar to the garage will have the chance to select one of eight design motifs for the SVJ 63 Roadster, though the photos depict the matte gray Grigio Acheso with orange details. The car also sports a set of matte titanium wheels and a special carbon-fiber part that covers roof, engine cover, engine air vents, windshield surround and mirrors. There will be no mistaking this special edition for any other Aventador as it wears a “63” livery inside and out, too. The cockpit of this Aventador SVJ 63 Roadster features gray and orange to match the exterior, though it shares other elements with the seven additional design motifs. Each of the 63 cars will come with tri-tone Alcantara upholstery, carbon-fiber trim and a steering-wheel badge to mark the SVJ 63 Roadster’s significance. Like all other SVJs, a 6.5-liter V12 makes 760 horsepower. Enlarge ImageLamborghini is proud of its racing success so far, so it made a tribute model. Antuan Goodwin/Roadshow If the Aventador SVJ 63 isn’t flashy enough for you, the Huracan EVO GT Celebration should do the trick. It honors the Huracan EVO GT3 race car that’s come off of two banner racing seasons, including two consecutive wins at the 24 Hours of Daytona and 12 Hours of Sebring. The company said it will build 36 of these cars — the sum of 24 and 12 to represent the EVO GT3’s dominance on the track. The wild green and orange livery is meant to evoke the GRT Grasser Racing Team livery, which is one of the teams that’s contributed to Lamborghini’s winning streak. I admit, it’s rather polarizing, but the company said there are eight other combinations to choose from with three other colors. No matter which color, the livery style stays the same, as does the racing number 11. Badging and vinyl also mark the race car’s championship wins on the sides and near the engine bay. Finally, the Lamborghini Squadra Shield is an option for the roof with the Italian and US flags framing it. Meanwhile, the interior features the shield, flags and laurel as standard equipment and color-contrast stitching depending on which color scheme an owner chooses. Like other Huracáns, a V10 provides the power. A shame if you’re not local to North America because other global buyers won’t have the chance to own an Huracan EVO GT Celebration. But some advocates want the feds to continue to investigate.Those advocates worry that children with disabilities will continue to have limited access to services until Texas completely removes its benchmark for special education. State officials said they would provide updates to districts to clarify “recent confusion.”“I was disappointed because I didn’t see a clear confirmation of when and how TEA is going to eliminate this indicator that has kept special education in our state at 8.5 percent,” said Dustin Rynders, an attorney with Disability Rights Texas.That indicator started in 2004. Since then, data shows enrollment in special education in Texas has dropped steeply to the lowest rate in the country.In a recent letter to the U.S. Department of Education, Disability Rights Texas asked the feds to get details about how Texas will phase out that benchmark.What’s more, the agency detailed what they call inaccuracies in the state’s official explanation to the feds. For example, TEA reported that children with disabilities haven’t been denied services guaranteed by federal law. Rynders disputed that.“Additionally, they claim they never got a complaint because of the cap. And to me that was remarkable because it’s such a clear cut inaccuracy,” he added.Disability Rights Texas has complained formally and informally in different ways about the cap on special ed, starting more than two years ago. Kolkata: A youth from Sonarpur in South 24-Parganas sustained head injuries after being hit on his head by a local miscreant. The incident occurred on Saturday morning when the victim protested against the accused as he was hurling abusive language at his wife. The accused has been arrested. Police said the victim, identified as Susanta Mondal protested against the accused, Madan Mondal who had allegedly abused his wife. A heated altercation broke out between the two when the victim demanded an apology from the accused. The altercation soon led to a scuffle following which the accused youth hit him on his head with a rod. One of the victim’s associates, Ram Naskar, who came to his rescue also received injuries in the incident. The accused fled the spot immediately after the incident but he was later arrested. The locals rushed both the injured victims to a nearby healthcentre. The locals told the police that the accused has been involved in various anti-social activities and often used to abuse women. A case has been initiated after the family members of the victims lodged complaints.

For this, a familiarisation tour will be organised soon, whereby renowned tour operators from Europe will be taken around the state to familiarise them with the tourist destinations.”We have plans to tap the European market. We are doing our part. The stakeholders have to come forward as well and be a part of the journey together,” added Sherpa. Majority of the domestic tourists in Bengal hail from the southern part of the country. The state government has come up with travel guide books and will soon come up with destination-specific brochures. “We will also give emphasis to thematic tourism promotion,” said the joint director. The importance of North Bengal as a tourist destination could be gauged to an extent by the increase in the number of passengers at the Bagdogra Airport. “Bagdogra has evolved as a major airport in the country. A major airport handles over 20 lakh passengers annually. There are 22 major airports in the country. Last year, Bagdogra saw a footfall of 29 lakh passengers,” stated Subramani P, director, Bagdogra Airport. Bagdogra was originally designed as a small airport with a passenger handling capacity of 75,000 passengers annually.

They’ve ranged from large corporations like Capital One and eBay to smaller, nimbler outfits like Betterment, Upstart and Mashable; and all have been eager for suggestions on how to retain their data scientists.Even without the capital provided by a larger corporation, there are plenty of ways — most of them free — for scrappy entrepreneurs to keep their data scientists engaged and on board. Here are three tips:1. Give your data scientist a purpose.It’s important for data scientists to understand how the work they do fits in with the broader mission of the business. To help make them feel like valued members of the team, have them spend time with business or product units. This will provide them context to better understand the problems they are facing and, in turn, will strengthen their analyses.Feeling valued will also lead them to make better products and deliver better services to your customers. The more connected they feel, the better their work will be.Data scientists, like many technical employees, get motivated by solving challenging problems. So, find intellectually stimulating new questions for them to work on or ask them to come up with their own. Engage them by encouraging them to work on compelling data sets. Allow them to work with your engineering staff to automate their repetitive weekly tasks. These things will help keep them connected to the company and keep them mentally sharp.2. Help your data scientist foster a sense of ownership.Entrepreneurs are often strapped for cash, so it makes sense to allow your data scientists to utilize his or her favorite open-source tools. Data scientists don’t exist in a vacuum; they’re part of a larger network of peers collaborating in an open-source movement. Encouraging them to contribute to open-source projects, and giving them the time to do so, gives them a greater sense of ownership and a broader purpose: contributing to the open-source community. If open source alternatives are not available, buy or build your own tools. Seek the data scientists’ input for the procurement or purchasing process. In the same way that a chef gets frustrated working with someone else’s dull knives, data scientists will become equally frustrated if forced to use the wrong tools for the job. Involving them in the decision-making process will increase their sense of ownership and avoid jeopardizing their morale and desire to stay with your company.Related: Hire Better Talent With a Big-Data ScientistRecognize the accomplishments of your data scientists and make sure you give them credit for their hard work. Good data scientists can take terabytes of data from a number of sources and synthesize that data into a single, succinct graph. This can be challenging work, even if they make it look easy, and this work is often overlooked.Letting your data scientists present their findings to management (and publicly thanking them when they do so) will help them feel connected to the company’s broader mission. And, after all, no one is more familiar with the analysis than the data scientist who performed it.3. Provide your data scientists with the support they needAs an entrepreneur, you may not have a team of engineers set up to assist your data scientist. Even so, recognize that data science and engineering go hand in hand, and do what you can to provide enough engineering support for your data scientist to get the job done. If the data clusters are slow, it will be difficult for your data scientists to iterate quickly, and the result will be a loss of motivation and creativity.They may also want software tooling support so that they are not writing MapReduce from scratch. Make sure the tools at hand are appropriate for the job in terms of both type and speed.There are also always new skills for data scientists to learn that could help them better leverage data to the company’s benefit. When possible, invest in their education. If you can afford to do so, pay for additional training classes to keep them on the cutting edge. As a less expensive option, cover lunch so they can hold seminars to teach one other new tricks or provide space for hosting meetups with academics and data scientists from other companies.Doing these things will show that your company really does care about the data scientists and the work they do. Plus, you’ll be building up your team’s skill set in the process.Entrepreneurs are notoriously scrappy and capable of coming up with creative solutions to the challenges they face. Utilizing some of these techniques should enable you to keep your data scientists engaged and on board.
