Warriors coach Steve Kerr takes blame after ugly Pistons loss: It was ‘one of my worst performances’

first_imgWarriors coach Steve Kerr is taking the blame in the midst of a rare losing streak on the road for Golden State as the team fell to the Pistons on Saturday, despite having Stephen Curry back from injury. After a devastating 111-102 loss and dropping 4-7 on the road this season, Kerr called it one of his worst performances as a coach and said he needs to do a better job bringing his team together.  “I did not like our offense tonight. I’ve got to do a better job,” Kerr said (via USA Today). “Tonight was probably a game that I could mark down as one of my worst performances as a coach, honestly.”All in all, I’ve got to do a better job than I’ve done here the first couple months of the season. This is … just gotta get better. We’ve gotta get better shots. We gotta get more spacing, get better flow.” Related News Steve Kerr takes blame for the Warriors lack of 3s, calls tonight one “of my worst performances as a coach,” said he’s gotta create more space for his offense, unclog paint pic.twitter.com/884K8JjRIv— Anthony Slater (@anthonyVslater) December 2, 2018The Warriors have now lost six straight games on the road, which is unprecedented. Prior to this streak, they had never lost more than three straight road games under Steve Kerr, according to ESPN Stats & Info.Kerr explained that he didn’t like some of the combinations he used and that the Warriors have to make adjustments to their spacing on the court.  “I’m just tired of seeing three people in the paint every time we are penetrating,” Kerr said. “The paint is so bunched up. I know we are top-heavy with our shooting. We’ve got obviously some of the great shooters in our starting lineup, but we’ve got a lot of guys that are coming off the bench or been in the lineup who are not 3-point shooters or aren’t shooting 3s.”So I’ve got to do a better job of finding combinations that work and find spacing that works. Because right now, what we’re [seeing] is not working.”The Warriors (15-9) are sitting fourth in the Western Conference behind the Clippers, Nuggets and Thunder. They have a day off before facing the Hawks (5-18) on the road Monday.center_img NBA wrap: Warriors fall to Pistons in Stephen Curry’s return Warriors star Stephen Curry discusses his performance in return from injurylast_img read more
